The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council has accused the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke of failing to address rising political violence in the state and called on the governor to rein in individuals allegedly involved in attacks against opposition supporters.
In a statement issued by the Head of the Media and Publicity Committee of the council, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, the APC alleged that supporters of its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, have been subjected to intimidation, harassment, and violent attacks ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
The council claimed that incidents of insecurity linked to political activities are increasing and could undermine peace and stability in the state if not addressed promptly.
According to the statement, several APC campaign buses were allegedly attacked and vandalised on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, in the Owode-Ede area, located within Governor Adeleke’s local government area. The party alleged that suspected thugs affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Accord Party were responsible for the attack, which reportedly resulted in the destruction of campaign materials and injuries to some APC supporters.
The APC also alleged that a business vehicle belonging to Alhaja Falilat Ẹrọ Arike, described as a prominent APC campaign supporter, was intercepted in the same area. The party claimed that members of her staff were assaulted and warned against returning to Ede.
According to the APC, Alhaja Ẹrọ Arike had been outspoken in her criticism of the Adeleke administration, which the party accused of contributing to economic hardship in the state.
The campaign council further alleged that some government appointees were involved in violent activities across parts of Osun State. It specifically mentioned Nurudeen Alowonle, a state appointee whom it claimed had previously faced arrest over allegations relating to the possession of firearms and ammunition.
The APC alleged that ongoing disturbances in Osogbo were linked to internal disagreements among political groups and claimed that armed individuals had been operating openly in the state capital, creating fear among residents.
The council expressed sympathy to residents who it said had suffered injuries, lost loved ones, or experienced property damage as a result of recent disturbances in Osogbo and other affected communities.
It also called on the Inspector-General of Police and other security agencies to investigate the reported attacks, bring perpetrators to justice, and take urgent steps to prevent further political violence in the state.
As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State Government and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had not issued an official response to the allegations.
