Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Monday said he was shocked that the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, called him by his first name.

He said this during a media chat he held with some journalists, as he added that he never held any meeting with Makinde and President Bola Tinubu where he promised to hold the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the president.

He said: “Seyi Makinde has never called me Wike one day. That was the first time I heard him do so. It is unfortunate.

“First, you should ask him, what was the purpose of that meeting that would have made me to say Mr President, I will hold PDP for you? Why did Seyi Makinde not come up all this while to tell the party about what he said Wike is doing?

“Let me put the record straight. There was no such meeting. Rather, myself, the former governor of Benue State, Ortom, the former governor of Abia State, Ikpeazu, the former governor of Enugu State Ugwuanyi and Seyi Makinde, we went to see the president to discuss about certain things after the elections were over.

“While we were there, the Chief of Staff who is always around the president. I told the Chief of Staff regarding our planned meeting. But at the end, there was no meeting.

“So it is completely out of place for anybody to say there was an enlarged meeting where I told the president that I will hold PDP for him. That is very unfair.

“You can see frustration during his media chat, real frustration. This is a young man we have advised many times that politics is not like being a contractor with Shell or Mobil. It has different rules.

“When did Seyi Makinde come into politics? There is nothing wrong in having ambition but the ambition must be tailored according to the rules. He has not even had the gut to tell us he wants to run for president. Let him say that he has told everybody, but we know he is only joking.”
