The footage of a Close Circuit Television (CCTV) camera was what men of the Ondo State Police Command used in arresting three kidnappers who abducted one of their victims in Akure, the state capital.
The three kidnappers, Mohammed Koro, aged 27 years; Muhammad Usman, aged 30 years and Musa Alhaji, aged 23 years, were arrested by the operatives of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad who also rescued three victims in their den.
It was gathered that the abduction of their last victim was captured on the CCTV camera in Oda, Akure, which later went viral on various social media platforms.
Following the circulation of the CCTV camera footage, men of the command carried out targeted operations which led to the arrest of one of the men.
During his interrogation, he was said to have provided information that led to the subsequent arrest of two other men believed to have played active roles in the incident and who were also captured in the CCTV footage.
The command, in a statement on Sunday, March 22, wrote: “However, operational efforts culminated in the successful rescue of three victims kidnapped by the kidnappers (names withheld). They have been debriefed and taken to nearest hospital for medical attention.”
The men had made more useful statements, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more investigation.
They are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigations.
