Following the refusal of commissioners who have political ambitions in Borno State to resign after the deadline given to them expired, the governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has sacked all of them and dissolved the state executive council.
The sacked commissioners have also been given till April 3 to vacate their offices and hand over their respective ministries to the Permanent Secretaries.
The governor announced the dissolution of the executive council in a statement on Monday, March 30, saying the decision was aimed at allowing any of them who may wish to contest elective positions in the 2027 general election to do so without due to their refusal to resign.
“Governor Zulum thanked the outgoing commissioners for their dedication, commitment and invaluable contributions to the development of Borno State,” the statement added.
The governor is expected to reconstitute his cabinet and forward names of his pick to the state House of Assembly as soon as possible.
