The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday, April 15, confirmed that it is currently investigating an incident where a doctor was accused of hiding one of the set of twins given birth to in his hospital.
A video went viral on Wednesday where some family members accused a doctor at TipTop Solution Hospital, Abaranje area of the state, of hiding one of the babies after the woman gave birth to a set of twins in the facility.
According to the report, the woman attended antenatal at the hospital and all the scans showed she was expecting a set of twins. However, on the day that she delivered, only one baby was presented to her.
Her husband and other family members were said to have raised the alarm, accusing the doctor of hiding the second twin. The alarm raised attracted the attention of passersby and onlookers.
The situation at the hospital that was almost leading to chaos made some of the family members to report the incident at the Abaranje Divisional Police Headquarters, which made police operatives to visit the hospital and arrest the doctor.
Reacting to the incident on Wednesday afternoon, the state police command said the matter is currently under investigation and an Area Commander is currently handling the case.
The command wrote: “The command is aware of the trending video and wishes to inform the public that the matter is currently under investigation.
“Relevant professional bodies and associations have been contacted and are working in synergy with the police to get to the root of the situation.
“The Area Commander, Area M, is personally overseeing the case. The outcome of the investigation will be made public in due course.
“Members of the public are hereby urged to remain calm, as the situation is under control.”
