Eight kidnappers who abductied two residents of a community in Nasarawa State right inside their homes have been arrested by police operatives while the ninth person was shot to death.
They were arrested on Thursday, May 7, following a coordinated security operation in Rukubi Community, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State after carrying out the dastardly act on Wednesday.
The operation followed a distress report received in the early hours of Thursday regarding an attack carried out by the hoodlums who invaded the community on the night of May 6, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents.
During the attack, the kidnappers stormed the homes of two residents and abducted two victims to an unknown destination.
Upon receipt of the report, police operatives of the Nasarawa State Command, in collaboration with other security agencies and local community youths, mobilised to the area and launched coordinated operations which led to the arrest of eight suspects linked to the incident.
During the operation, security operatives recovered two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles and two expended 7.62mm ammunition shells connected to the attack.
According to a statement by the Nigeria Police Force on Thursday, one of the kidnappers who sustained fatal injuries during the encounter was later confirmed dead while receiving treatment in the hospital.
Those arrested were said to have given more useful information to the police operatives and they are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
