Daughter of the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, as well as wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, are among 81 aspirants jostling for the House of Representatives primary election in Benue State.
At the House of Reps primaries held on Saturday, May 16, Mrs Regina Akume, SGF’s wife and Blessing Onuh, daughter of Mark, were among the contestants in Saturday’s primary election for the 11 House of Reps seats in the state.
The SGF’s wife is contesting alongside six others for the Gboko/Tarka federal constituency seat while Blessing Onuh is contesting with three others for the Otukpo/Ohinmini federal constituency.
Chairman of National Assembly Primary Election Committee in the state, Alhaji. Sabiu Mahuta, while announcing the names of the aspirants, appealed for peaceful conduct of the primary election.
He said that the party would use direct mode in today’s House of Representative in the state, adding however that where there is consensus, the returning officers should accept letters indicating such.
As of the time of this report at 3:30 p.m., the primary election process is ongoing.
