Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state have congratulated Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, calling for unity, sacrifice and peaceful coexistence among residents.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke described the Islamic festival as a period for deep reflection on the virtues of obedience, compassion and submission to the will of Allah.
The governor said the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir aligned with the vision of his administration, which he noted was focused on fairness, service delivery and the welfare of the people.
He urged residents to assess his government’s performance in areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, workers’ welfare and social development.
“As you drive through our towns and villages, check through our deliveries and services to our people. We are committed to serving you now and all the time,” Adeleke stated.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to religious harmony, inclusiveness and equal opportunities for all residents regardless of political or religious affiliation.
He further urged Muslims to continue praying for peace, unity and progress in Osun State and Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Osun State chapter of the APC also felicitated Muslims on the celebration and urged them to remember the less privileged during the festivities.
In a statement signed by the state APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, the party encouraged wealthy individuals to support those unable to celebrate comfortably.
The APC also urged Muslims to pray for sick persons in hospitals and homes while advising celebrants to mark the festival with moderation.
“We also want to remind our Muslim brothers and sisters of the need to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir with moderation in order to live to celebrate many more of it in the land of the living,” the statement read.
The opposition party further called on Muslims to pray for peace and stability in Osun State and Nigeria as political activities ahead of the governorship election intensify.
The APC also urged residents to support its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, whom it described as a capable leader committed to restoring the state’s lost glory.
