A car wash attendant who fled with a car he was asked to wash in Adamawa State has been arrested with the vehicle in Kano State by men of the Adamawa State Police Command.
The attendant, whose name was given as Mohammed Dan-Azumi, aged 26, fled with the car a few minutes after the owner had brought it to be washed at a car wash facility in Girei Local Government Area of the state.
His arrest followed the report lodged by the owner of the vehicle, who stated that when he came back to take his car, a Toyota Corolla, which he had entrusted to the attendant, he didn’t see the car as well as the man and all efforts to get his whereabouts proved abortive.
Acting swiftly on the report lodged however, operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID), Yola, launched an operation that led to the tracking of the car and subsequent arrest of the attendant at a location in Kano State.
He was said to have given more useful information to the police operatives regarding his motive for fleeing with the car. He will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
In another development, the command has arrested Abubakar Musa in connection with the killing of Nathaniel Yusuf of Jambutu Ward, Yola North Local Government Area.
The arrest followed a report made at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Kofare, by Grace Yusuf, a sister to the deceased, who alleged that her brother was attacked by the suspect.
Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives responded to the distress call, visited the scene, rescued the victim, and rushed him to the Specialist Hospital, Jimeta, where he was pronounced dead by doctors on duty.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs, his right hand, and head, after allegedly being attacked with a stick by the suspect.
