Popular musician, David Adeleke, also known as Davido, on Tuesday, August 11, wrote President Donald Trump of the United States, raising an alarm over possibility of violence during the governorship election in Osun State.

The election is coming up on Saturday, August 15 and at the last count, more than 20 persons have been killed by political rivals.

However, Davido, in a post on his verified X handle on Tuesday told Trump there were growing concerns about tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process.

He wrote: “President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election.

“There are growing concerns about tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process. Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear.

“I appeal to the United States and the international community to pay close attention to the election and encourage all relevant authorities to ensure that every voter is protected and every vote is respected.

“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election.”

As of the time of this report, his post has got over 3,000 comments from his followers. While some condemned him for involving Trump in Osun election matter, others praised him for calling the global attention to the increasing wave of killings in the state.
