A woman has given chilling details of how some kidnappers lured her from her shop while pretending to be customers, took her into their den and demanded for the sum of N100 million as ransom.

The woman, Sarah Chinedu, who spent three weeks with her abductors, added that the ransom was negotiated to N5 million by her husband who eventually paid N1.8 million before the men of the Bayelsa State Police Command rescued her in a late night operation.

The rescued woman, while giving accounts of her ordeal, disclosed that her abductors set a trap for her inside her own shop, pretending to be customers, as they showed her their weapons before taking her away.

According to her: “They said they wanted to buy some items from my shop. Then as I got inside to pick what they demanded for, they brought out their guns, took me away and left my daughter and one woman that was with me.

“When we reached a police checkpoint, we entered the bush and later reached a river where they took me away in a boat,” she said.

The woman said when the kidnappers demanded N100 million as ransom from her husband, she pleaded and told them that he could not afford such an amount.

She claimed that the husband initially begged them to accept N5 million, but they refused, insisting on N20 million.

She added that her husband eventually paid N1.8 million before the police rescued her, ending her three weeks in kidnappers den.

The command said efforts are being intensified to arrest the fleeing kidnappers.
