Some Nigerians on Wednesday, September 23, took to the social media and reacted to the lamentation of a lady who said 958 units she used to get for power supply with N50,000 has now reduced to 222 units.
A video went viral on Wednesday where the lady said she went to recharge at the Eko Electricity Distribution Company and paid the sum of N50,000 which hitherto used to give her 958.5 top-up energy.
However, to her shock, after paying the N50,000 this month, she got energy units of 222, describing it as over 400% drop in the units given to her.
In anger, she urged Nigerians to get their voter’s cards ready for the 2027 election, wondering why the current government is harsh on the citizens.
“I used to buy ₦50,000 worth of electricity and get 958.5 units. This September, the same ₦50,000 is giving me just 222 units. This is over 400% increase. President Tinubu, what is happening? Nigerians, please go and get your Permanent Voter’s Cards. We need to vote out this government next year,” she said.
However, many people on X reacted to the post, with some of them linking the sharp drop in the units to tariff adjustments that moved some users to Band A which rate is about N209 per kWh.
