A soldier who was declared wanted by the Nigerian Army for allegedly selling uniforms to terrorists and other criminals has been arrested.
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI arrested the soldier, Private Mohammed Yusuf, on Saturday, July 25, after he was declared wanted earlier this week over his alleged involvement in supplying military uniforms to terrorist groups and other criminals operating in the North-East.
It was gathered that Private Yusuf, from the Nigerian Army Ordnance Training Facility (NAOTF), Lagos State, was apprehended at about 6:30 p.m. on July 25 by troops of 7 Provost.
According to military sources, preliminary investigations after his arrest revealed that before he was declared wanted by the Army, he absconded from his unit and travelled to Maiduguri, Borno State, on July 7, where he allegedly went into hiding.
The sources further added that he was in hiding at Gomari Costain in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State at the residence of another soldier belonging to the Corps of Intelligence.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops of the 7 Provost placed him under 24-hour surveillance before intercepting and arresting him at Jidari Bus Stop while he was allegedly attempting to travel to another town.
He is currently in detention at the 7 Provost where he is undergoing further investigation into the supply of military accoutrements to terrorist elements.
