Scores of supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Benue State on Saturday, October 10, sustained varying degrees of injuries when the bus conveying them to the North-Central ‘mega rally’ of the party crashed.
The mega rally was held in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, and attended by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, APC governors from the zone as well as other chieftains of the party where they endorsed President Bola Tinubu for second term.
The party members from Benue State and loyal to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, were on their way to Lafia when one of the buses crashed after its driver lost control of the vehicle and it veered into the bush.
The injured party members were helped out of the ill-fated vehicle by members of the party in the other vehicles that were coming behind them who eventually rushed them to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

At the mega rally, the North-Central governors from Benue, Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa, Kwara and Kogi states as well as other stakeholders from the region unanimously expressed support for Tinubu’s reelection bid, citing what they described as transformation of the nation’s economy.
Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule, while welcoming party faithful to the rally, said his state would vote for the APC presidential candidate as well as candidates of the party for various positions in the state.
Also speaking at the rally, Senator Oluremi Tinubu expressed optimism that the economic hardship facing Nigerians would soon come to an end, assuring citizens of improved conditions if her husband secures another mandate.
