Oboama Community Mourns as 30 Years Old Graduate Commits Suicide

It was a sad day in Umuohi, Oboama Community as a 30 years old graduate Nerus Elemamba from the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Imo State submitted to the cold hands of death by committing suicide.

It was reported that the deceased found hanging in his room at his residence located in the Ezinihitte Mbaisi Local Government area of Imo State took his own life after participating alongside with his peers in the village youth manual labour.

Speaking anonymously to newsmen in Tuesday, the source said Elemamba didn’t portray any sign depression. He said “the young man, Nerus is from Umuohi village in Oboama Ezinihitte Mbaisi Imo State. He took his own life yesterday evening. The reason for his action is unknown to anybody”

“He is a graduate of Architecture from the Federal Polytechnic in Nekede. Until yesterday morning, he was very healthy and participated in the village youth manual labour. Later that same yesterday evening, his body was found hanging in his bedroom.”

Information from another source indicated that the deceased didn’t leave any suicide note behind.

The source stated “Nerus chinaechenwa Elemamba, the second son of lae Mr Cajethan Elemamba was yesterday, Monday evening found dead hanging himself in his own room.”

“Nerus participated in the youth manual labour work yesterday morning, looking very healthy before the unfortunate scenario occurred.”

Iheukwumere Ibeh the village youth leader who also spoke to newsmen on Tuesday morning said that the villagers were dazed by the sudden turnout of event.

Ibeh made it known that the deceased was buried after all the necessary cultural rites had been successfully observed.

 “This is shocking. Nobody knows the reason for his actions. He didn’t leave any note behind. He was not married. He is between 30 and 31 years of age. He was not taken to the mortuary. He is being buried as we speak. This is after the required cultural rituals to appease the land have been carried out.” He said

When Henry Okoye the State Police Spokesperson was contacted for further clarifications, he note that he hasn’t been given details on the occurrence.
