The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the National Chairman of the party, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, were not present at the inauguration of the Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team of the party in Abuja on Thursday.

Also absent was the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, who was represented by the Director, Strategic Communications, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN).

Reasons for their absence were not made known. However, the wife of the president, Mrs. Aisha Buhari is the chairperson of the campaign team while the wife of the vice-president, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbao is the co-chairperson.

The president who was present at the inauguration made it known in his speech that if re-elected in the coming election, he would uphold the present “change” slogan of APC.

Buhari said, “In carrying out this assignment, I expect from members of this team the same loyalty and support, which you exhibited in 2015. Let us remind Nigerians about our plans, our good work and achievements.”

Aisha who spoke said the main aim of the team was to support the actual campaign council headed by her husband.

“It will operate as a sister body with necessary legwork and outreach and will mobilise women and youths across the country.” Meanwhile, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Colonel Hammed Ali (Rtd.), who is the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Buhari Support Organization, called for unity of purpose to safe the country  from those he described as “selfish.”
