The management of Arik Air has announced the resumption of normal flight operations after disruption by some workers unions on Monday.
The Aviation Unions had on Monday shut down the operations of Arik Air for non-payment of salaries.
However, The Communications Manager of Arik Air, Mr Adebanji Ola made the announcement about the resumption on Tuesday in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos
Chairman, Air Transport Senior Staff Services Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), Mr Innocent Atasie, Arik Air Branch, informed NAN that the reason why the strike was put on hold was due to the request of the Director-General of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Musa Nuhu, who asked for a meeting with the union.
He stated that the next line of action will be determined by the outcome of the meeting with the Director-General.
The unions which comprises of the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) and Air Transport Senior Staff Services Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) claimed that Arik Air had failed to pay its workers since April after placing 90 per cent of its workforce on compulsory leave.
