Arsenal Football Club’s open-top bus parade on Sunday, May 31, will not include players displaying the trophy won by them, Yahoo Sports reported on Wednesday, May 27.
The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust (AST) confirmed it will not stage the trophy lift at the parade to avoid large crowds gathering in one place and amid safety concerns.
The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust (AST) said up to 500,000 people are expected to line the nine-kilometre parade route, with estimates suggesting the number could reach one million.
The AST said the decision was made to help keep crowds spread evenly along the route, rather than converging on a single location.
It said: “There would be no agreement from authorities to hold such a big event on a working day.”
The parade is expected to last around two hours from the 2:00 p.m. and will feature three buses.
The club’s women’s team will also be involved, to celebrate their FIFA Champions Cup win.
Some fans have expressed disappointment over the timing, as those travelling to Budapest for Saturday’s Champions League final may be unable to attend.
