The insecurity situation in Niger state is on the rise with the recent attack of some communities in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state where about 25 members of the communities were killed and many others injured.

The bandits also went away with about 50 members of the communities that were mostly women and children.

According to reports, the bandits, numbering about 100, invaded the villages in Kwaki in Kurebe/Kushaka Ward of Shiroro LGA on Monday morning to unleash terror on the people for their refusal to attend a meeting which was held on Sunday, a day before the attack.

The bandits were said to have requested that 25 communities in the area must pay the sum of N3million before they can be allowed to harvest their farm Produce and go about with their normal farming business.

The bandit were said to have had meeting with the communities on Sunday but six communities refused to turn up for the meeting which angered the bandits.

Suleman Chukuba, the Chairman of Shiroro Local Government Area, while confirming the attack faulted the decision of the communities to negotiate with the bandits stressing that payment of N3million would not put an end to the activities of the bandits in the area.

He also denied knowledge of any meeting between the communities and the bandits.
