Some bandits on Friday evening avenged the death of their colleagues at a community in Katsina State, launched an attack and killed at least 10 residents.
In fact, as the community was preparing to hold the burial of the victims, the gunmen returned and disrupted the programme.
The gunmen on motorcycles were said to have attacked Kiliya community in Kuki Ward, Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of the state, killing residents.
Sources close to the local government area told Impact Nigeria News Online on Saturday morning that the killing was a reprisal attack after two bandits were killed by Katsina Community Watch Corps (C-Watch) operatives on Eid-el-Kabir Day in the community.
It was gathered that the bandits returned to the community on Saturday morning while family members were preparing to bury the victims in accordance with Islamic rites, shooting into the air and disrupting the process.
This made the family members and other residents to abandon the corpses and flee for their lives in different direction while. The bandits eventually left after the disruption while residents are currently in panic over fear of fresh attack.
In another cheering development, troops of 17 Brigade deployed at Ruwan Godiya, in Faskari Local Government Area of the state responded to distress calls from the locals at about 7:30 p.m. on May 28 that terrorists were sighted with some motorcycles at a nearby bush with the intent of invading the community.
Consequently, the troops immediately set out to thwart the plans of the terrorists. However, before getting to the village, the terrorists had sighted advancing troops and opened fire while others fled into the bush.
The troops engaged them in gun duel and killed five among the terrorists.
Additionally, the soldiers gave hot pursuit to the fleeing terrorists, captured some motorcycles and recovered 12 rounds of ammunition apparently abandoned by the terrorists.
