Some bandits were said to have, on Monday evening, blocked a road in Niger State for three hours, operated unchallenged and abducted some travellers.

The bandits were said to have blocked the Wawa-Luma road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and operated freely, stopping vehicles and abducting travellers.

An impeccable source told the Impact Nigeria News Online on Tuesday afternoon that the bandits came to the road on motorcycles and moved towards the Kale, Konkoje, Kaiama and Lumma stretch of the road.

They were said to have stopped some buses carrying passengers and thereafter abducted some travellers, especially men, while a driver was said to have sustained an injury after the marauders shot at his vehicle.

It was gathered that despite distress calls made by some people living in the area, there was no security response during the three hours that the bandits operated along the road.

As of the time of this report, the fate of the abducted travellers is unknown while neither the state government nor any security agencies had issued any statement regarding the incident.
