BREAKING: INEC will be probed for inefficiency after Feb 23 election – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to probed the Independent National Electoral Commission over the postponement of February 16 election.
Buhari made this known during All Progressives Congress, APC, caucus meeting held at the party secretariat in Abuja. The president who was visibly angry said he got to know about the postponement around 4. 45am on Saturday morning.
He said there was no reason for INEC to fail in her responsibility having been provided adequate finance in due time and all legal back up by the government. He described the INEC action as a testimony of incompetence and has to be investigated after the elections.
He appealed to APC supporters to still come out in their number and vote overwhelmingly for the party on rescheduled dates for the general elections.
He however warned that anyone who intends to rig election may not return home alive.
Buhari said: “Anyone who decides to snatch ballot boxes; this will be the last the persons will attempt to do, because he will be doing that at the expense of his own life.’’
He also said that security forces and the army have been directed to man all soft targets to deal ruthlessly with ballot snatchers.
Earlier, the chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole has accused the electoral body of being compromised, alleging that some of the INEC commissioners are working for the victory of People Democratic Party, PDP by sharing relevant information about the shifting of polls hours before the decision was made public.
