President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele for another 5-year term in office.
Emefiele’s re-appointment nomination letter was read by Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki during plenary on Thursday.
In the letter, the president urged the Senate to consider Emefiele’s re-appointment having completed his first term in office.
Buhari’s request would be referred in the next legislative day to the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions for legislative processing.
Emefiele previous term in office was appointed by ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2014 and is expected to end in June 2019.
The committee is however expected to investigate Emefiele’s credentials and other performance in office.
