The Canadian acting High Commissioner in Nigeria, Nicholas Simard has expressed Canada’ government readiness to support Nigeria’s fight against insecurity with $ 10 million.
Simard disclosed this during his visit to the Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, in Abuja.
According to a statement released by the Head, Press and Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Odutayo Oluseyi, Simard stressed the need to build the capacity of personnel of the Police Force in order to end violence in Nigeria.
The Canadian acting commissioner, who appreciated his warm reception, also noted that the insecurity in Nigeria has become a matter of concern warranting his country’s advocacy.
Responding, the Minister of Police Affairs, Dingyadi said that Nigeria and Canada over the years have maintained cordial relationship.
Dingyadi commended Canada for their contribution towards enthronement of peace and unity in Nigeria and other countries in Africa.
