Candidates who seek admissions into Bachelor of Education programmes as well as Agriculture non-engineering courses will henceforth be exempted from writing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) stated this on Monday, May 11, during its 2026 policy meeting on admission held in Abuja.
This means that all those who want to study B.ED in various fields and those who want to study courses like Agriculture and Rural Sociology, Agriculture Economy, Agric Extension, among others that have nothing to do with Agriculture Engineering will no longer need to write UTME.
“Candidates seeking admissions into Education Programmes and Agriculture non-Engineering Courses are now exempted from UTME,” it said.
At the policy meeting which was still ongoing at the time of this report, JAMB said entry age into any tertiary institution in the country remains 16.
