There was confusion over the health status of the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo, who was rushed to a hospital a few hours after he slumped in his office.
While some reports indicated that he had died at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, where he was rushed to, others revealed that he is currently responding to treatment at the health facility.
Sources disclosed that after he slumped around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, his aide rushed him to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa where doctors on duty made frantic efforts to save him.
What led to his collapse in office has not been revealed, but sources disclosed it might be related to a cardiac issue, as he was said not to be in excellent health for some time.
Before becoming deputy governor, Ewhrudjakpo represented Bayelsa West in the 9th Senate, where he chaired key committees and was regarded as one of the more influential lawmakers from the South-South region.
