The African Democratic Congress (ADC) faction led by Senator David Mark has fixed N100 million as nomination form for its presidential aspirants.
It also fixed N50 million as nomination form for governorship aspirants while senatorial and House of Representatives aspirants are to pay N20 million and N10 million respectively for the forms.
Equally, state houses of Assembly aspirants are to cough up N3 million to buy nomination forms for the 2027 general election.
Also, the party has fixed its primary to pick the presidential candidate for May 25 at a venue yet to be disclosed while governorship primaries will hold before then on May 22.
Primaries for Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives as well as Senate will hold same day on May 21.
However, a few hours after the announcement of the fees, one of its chieftains, Peter Obi, announced his resignation from the party, saying his decision to leave was because the same Nigerian state and its agents that created unnecessary crises and hostility within the Labour Party that forced him to leave now appear to be finding their way into the ADC.
He added that he and his supporters were being treated as outsiders in the party.
“Let me state clearly: my decision to leave the ADC is not because our highly respected Chairman, Senator David Mark, treated me badly, nor because my leader and elder brother, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, or any other respected leaders did anything personally wrong to me. I will continue to respect them.
“However, the same Nigerian state and its agents that created unnecessary crises and hostility within the Labour Party that forced me to leave now appear to be finding their way into the ADC, with endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division, instead of focusing on deeper national problems and playing politics built more on control and exclusion than on service and nation-building.”
