The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disowned the activities of one of its dismissed staff members, Olakunle Alex Folarin, after he was spotted participating in a matchmaking programme on Lege Miami’s social media platforms.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the anti-graft agency said Folarin, who served as a driver at its Ibadan Zonal Directorate, was dismissed from the Commission over certificate forgery. Despite his sack, he allegedly continued to parade himself in ways that misled members of the public into believing he still worked with the EFCC.
The Commission further disclosed that its Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has ordered Folarin’s arrest for unlawful possession of EFCC property, including an official Identity Card, which he failed to surrender after his dismissal.
“The Commission condemns in the strongest terms the involvement of Folarin in activities that tarnish the image of the EFCC. He is no longer in our service and his post-dismissal conduct has nothing to do with the Commission,” the statement read in part.
The EFCC advised members of the public to disregard any claims, representations, or appearances by Folarin linking him to the agency, stressing that his actions are purely personal and should not be associated with the Commission’s mandate or operations.
The anti-graft body has repeatedly cautioned Nigerians against dealing with individuals who impersonate its officials or misuse its identity for private gains.
