The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially handed over a 753-unit housing estate in Abuja, recovered from former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele, to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
The estate, located on Plot 109, Cadastral Zone C09 in Lokogoma District, spans over 150,000 square metres and was forfeited to the federal government following a final court order on December 2, 2024.
During a brief ceremony on Tuesday, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede presented the property to Housing Minister Ahmed Dangiwa, affirming the commission’s commitment to transparent asset recovery and public accountability.
“This gesture demonstrates our resolve to ensure looted assets are returned to serve public interest and are not re-looted,” Olukoyede said.
He emphasized that asset recovery remains central to the EFCC’s anti-corruption strategy and praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its support in combating financial crimes.
