Eight out of ten bridesmaids who were abducted at a wedding ceremony in Kano State have been rescued by men of the Nigerian Army less than 12 hours after their abduction by bandits.
The wedding ceremony took place on Wednesday evening at Dabawa Village, Shanono Local Government Area of the state and in the course of the wedding, bandits on motorcycle stormed the venue and abducted the ten bridesmaids while the bride and the groom escaped by the whiskers.
However, following a distress call after the abduction, troops of the 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army stationed in the area were said to have pursued the bandits towards the Gidan Mutum Daya end of the Katsina-Kano highway, leading to the rescue of eight of the abducted ladies.
A source close to the military in the state told Impact Nigeria News Online on Thursday night that the troops are currently combing the forests in order to rescue the remaining bridesmaids while those rescued had been reunited with their family members.
The Northern part of the country, especially the North-West, has been under the consistent grips of bandits and terrorists who unleash mayhem on residents, killing some and abducting others. They always demand for huge ransoms before freeing their captives.
