In continuation of the #EndSars protest ongoing across the country, some youths had gathered at Omole Estate, Phase one, Ikeja, Lagos to agitate for good and accountable governance.
The protest which caused gridlock along that axis and its environs had youths flying the Nigerian flag with the inscription #EndSars.
According to some protesters, the protest is not just against Police Brutality but for a reform in the affairs of the nation.
In an interview with one of the protesters, Vivian Ikechukwu, who describes herself as an entrepreneur, runs an NGO (Vichida Care Foundation) said “it is disheartening what our country has turned into and right now one of the reasons for this peaceful protest is so that we can put an end to a lot of things; police brutality, SARS brutality, SWAT brutality.
“We need to reform Nigeria and make it a better place for you, for me and for everybody else. “
Another Protester, Kelvin Spencer said “we are here protesting for what is happening in Nigeria. We need Buhari to talk to us.
“We need light, education, we need health care. There are so many things we need especially light and road.”
The protest which has been ongoing for over a week started with the desire to scrap Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) but has turned out to be more than that.
According to one of the protesters, she said “we are tired of the bad government; we just want everything to change. We want the youth to step in; Buhari should step down because Buhari is not doing anything.”
