The Lagos State Police Command on Saturday, October 25, announced the death of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of FESTAC Divisional Headquarters, CSP Matilda Ngbaronye.

According to the command, she died after undergoing surgery for an undisclosed ailment at the Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere, on Friday, October 24.

She was described as an upright officer who was able to effectively be in charge of FESTAC Division that handles many criminal and other cases.

The command wrote: “Her friendly disposition and humane approach to policing greatly helped to bridge the gap between the police and the public she dutifully served. At no time was she found wanting in the discharge of her responsibilities.”

The command, which said her death came as “a rude shock,” added that it had reached to her aged mother, husband and her elder brother who is a priest over the sad incident, adding that the command will be actively involved in her burial programme.

“The CP has personally reached out to her husband and her elder brother, who is a priest, to extend the command’s heartfelt condolences and support during this difficult time. Burial arrangements will be communicated in due course,” the statement added.
