President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the gradual easing of the lockdown measures for the next two weeks with effect from Monday May 18 midnight.
This decision was announced by the Chairman Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha at a daily media briefing on Monday in Abuja.
Mustapha said: “The measures, exemptions, advisories and scope of entities allowed to reopen under phase one of the eased locked down, shall be maintained across the federation for another two weeks effective from 12 00 midnight today (18th May, 2020 to 1st June, 2020).”
To this effect, all schools, business and places of worship are to remain closed. The nationwide curfew from 8pm to 6am is sustained while the ban on interstate travel will also be in place for the next two weeks.
Mustapha also said that the existing lockdown order in Kano remains in place, in addition to the compulsory use of face masks in the public, for more weeks.
It was earlier reported that the President would be addressing the nation but it was later contradicted by the President spokesman, Femi Adesina.
