The Federal Government has issued a directive requiring all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) within the civil service to completely transition to digital operations and discontinue the use of paper by December 2025.
This announcement was made by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, during a world press conference held in Abuja on Wednesday, June 11,2025.
The briefing comes ahead of the 2025 International Civil Service Week and African Public Service Day, which will take place from June 25 to 26.
According to Walson-Jack, the digital transition mandate aligns with the objectives of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP 25), which concludes on December 31. She noted that the reform initiative prioritises digital innovation, improved performance management, and streamlined service delivery across all MDAs.
