French President, Emmanuel Macron, on Sunday, December 7, disclosed that he held talks with Nigerian president, Bola Tinubu, over security challenges the country is facing in the Northern region, especially terrorist threats.

Macron disclosed this on his verified X handle, apparently reacting to various bandit and terrorist attacks as well as other challenges facing the North, as he said no one can remain a spectator.

He said that Tinubu requested France to strengthen partnership with Nigeria and give support for the affected populations.

“At his request, we will strengthen our partnership with the authorities and our support for the affected populations. We call on all our partners to step up their engagement. No one can remain a spectator,” Macron said.

Many parts of the North have been under constant attacks by bandits and terrorists, especially the Boko Haram insurgents, who invade communities, unleashing terror and killing people at will.
