Gombe govt approves N550 million gratuity for retirees

The Governor of Gombe state, Muhammadu Yahaya has approved the release of N550 million for payment of gratuity for the retirees in the state.

According a statement signed by, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ismaila Masilli, made available to IMPACT NEWS the approval is a show of Governor Yahaya’s determination to settle the backlog of gratuity of retired civil servants in the state.

The governor also directed all relevant agencies and personnel to commence the process of payment to the affected retirees with immediate effect.

According to Masilli, “With the latest payment, the Governor has further demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of all retired and serving civil Servants, whom he said deserve a dignified life both in service and retirement, hence the approval of the funds.”

It will be recalled that this is the second time the Governor is releasing funds for payment of the backlog of gratuity of workers who retired from the civil service.

In August, Governor Yahaya approved the release of 1.1 billion Naira for payment to 504 state retirees, who left the service in 2014.
