Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that youngster Mason Greenwood could be named in the starting lineup against Arsenal on Monday.

The 17-year-old has made six appearances so far this season, playing the full 90 minutes of the Carabao Cup tie against Rochdale, where he scored the Red Devils’ goal in the 1-1 draw. The striker also scored the winner in the Europa League opener against Astana.

The teenager’s only Premier League start came against Cardiff City at the end of last season, but Solskjaer has revealed that the forward could be in line to start against Unai Emery’s men.

“It might be,” Solskjaer answered when asked if the youngster will retain his place (via Manchester Evening News).

“Because he’s proven when he’s been on the pitch, in the last two games he started against Astana and Rochdale, when you get him in the box he’s dangerous.

“What’s pleased me about him in the period we’re in is he doesn’t turn down chances to finish, when you’re not 18 yet and you keep trusting yourself, he gets the chances.

“So I’m not worried about him at all but we’ve managed him, we can’t just throw him in at the deep end all the time, so he’s proved in those games he’s ready for it, now Premier League? I’ll have the weekend to think about it.”

Greenwood has two goals in his 10 first team appearances for Manchester United.
