An armed robber who doubles as a kidnapper has been arrested by men of the Delta State Police Command after he concealed a locally-fabricated Beretta pistol inside a loaf of bread.
This was disclosed by the state police command in a statement on Saturday, November 8, as it added that the young man, Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, aged 24 years, was arrested by the operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the command.
It was gathered that on November 6, around 8:30 a.m., the operatives, while conducting a stop and search duty at Kuka Roundabout, Asaba, the state capital, flagged down the vehicle the man boarded.
Following his suspicious behaviour, the operatives subjected him to a search and during the search of his belongings, the pistol carefully concealed inside the loaf of bread was recovered. He was promptly arrested and taken into custody.
He was said to have given more useful information to the police operatives while the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more investigation to ascertain his possible connection with incidence of armed robbery and kidnapping within the Asaba metropolis and adjoining communities.
He is also expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation into his nefarious activities.
