A politician from Kogi State who represented the state in the Senate, Dino Melaye, has said that if free and fair election is conducted in Nigeria in 2027, he will defeat President Bola Tinubu ‘hands down.’
He said this during a podcast interview with television presenter, Seun Okinbaloye recently.
Asked what strategy he thought would work best for the opposition in 2027, Melaye, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said anyone presented by the party will be far better than Tinubu.
He said: “Anybody among those interested in the presidency in ADC will do one million times better than Tinubu. They can never be the worst president than Tinubu.
“You mean if I can defeat Tinubu? Let’s go on a free and fair election, I will beat him hands down. Anapa, Anabole, I will beat him flat, he will not even be able to stand up. I will beat him not only in Kogi State, but also in the entire Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Let him allow a free and fair contest for you to know how popular I am and if he doesn’t allow it, we will make him conduct one. He doesn’t want an election, he wants to be Kabiyesi, he wants to be Igwe. We will not allow that to happen in Nigeria.”
Asked what he thought about Peter Obi-kwankwaso presidential ticket in the ADC, Melaye said: “I am not interested in any joint ticket or no joint ticket, my own interest for now is that we must send Tinubu away. Whoever emerges, either from consensus or through primaries, I will support.
“We are not desperate, but we are only interested in rescuing this country from Tinubu.”
