Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has urged compatriot Victor Osimhen to seriously consider a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia amid ongoing uncertainty over his future.
Osimhen, 26, remains one of the most sought-after strikers in the world, but despite interest from elite European clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, and PSG, no concrete offers have materialized.
After being sidelined at Napoli, Osimhen revived his career on loan at Galatasaray last season, scoring an impressive 37 goals and providing eight assists in 41 appearances. Galatasaray are keen to sign him permanently, but Napoli’s high demands have stalled negotiations.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian clubs – most notably Al Hilal and the newly ambitious Neom – remain keen and have reportedly offered Osimhen over €40 million annually. Despite the eye-watering figures, Osimhen has so far turned down a move, expressing a desire to continue his career in Europe.
However, Ighalo, who has played in both China and Saudi Arabia, believes Osimhen should take the deal. “He should go to Saudi Arabia for two years and make money. He can return to Europe afterward,” Ighalo told Echo Room. Citing Africa’s unique family expectations, Ighalo added, “In Africa, your money is everybody’s money. That kind of offer solves all your problems.”
Ighalo’s comments highlight the growing dilemma African players face – balancing career ambition with financial security. With Napoli yet to finalize any deal and Saudi clubs still circling, the final decision rests with Osimhen, whose next move could define both his legacy and long-term stability.
