Some kidnappers numbering four on Wednesday, November 26, abducted a poultry farmer at a community near Ijebu Ode in Ogun State, taking him to an unknown location.
The poultry farmer, Mr Amelie Enoch Sunday, was abducted on Wednesday afternoon inside his farm at Oke Eri community along the Ijebu Ode-Ibadan Road which is about three minutes drive to Ijebu Ode, while his car was left in the farm.
It was gathered that the man was busy attending to his livestock in the community popularly known for the Bilikisu Sungbo shrine when the gunmen struck, as they bundled his into their getaway vehicle to an unknown destination.
Confirming the incident, the traditional ruler of the community, Olu of Oke Eri, Oba Babatunde Oredipe, in a statement, expressed sadness, saying the incident has cast some unpleasant shadows on the community.
The statement reads: “It is with a heavy heart that I bring to your attention the unfortunate incident involving the kidnapping of Mr. Amelie Enoch Sunday, a dedicated poultry farmer in our community.
“This distressing event has cast a shadow over us all. Please be assured that the Divisional Police Officer, the relevant government departments and the traditional authorities have been promptly informed.
“We are in touch with Mr. Sunday’s family to offer our support during this difficult period.
“I urge all residents to remain calm and steadfast in prayer for the safe and early return of Mr. Sunday. Let us also be vigilant and prioritise the safety and security of ourselves and our loved ones.
“These are challenging times for our community and the nation as a whole. Please take extra precautions, especially by avoiding unnecessary and late movements.”
As of the time of this report, it was gathered that police operatives from the Ijebu Ode Area Command have swung into action by combing the forests along the Ijebu Ode-Ibadan Road.
Also, the abductors are yet to make any contact with the man’s family.
