The Channels Television reporter for Rivers State, Mr. Joshua Rogers, kidnapped in Port Harcourt by unidentified gunmen has been set free.
This development was confirmed by some of the employees of the company. Rogers was said to have been released on Friday night and he had been reunited with his family.
Though the circumstances surrounding his eventual release were still sketchy at press time, it was gathered that the state Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, was instrumental to his freedom.
Rogers was reportedly whisked away to an unknown place by the gunmen at about 9pm on Thursday in front of his residence at Rumuosi in Port Harcourt.
The reporter was driving his official Channels Television branded car when the hoodlums accosted him, pointed a gun at him and took him away in the same vehicle.
Rogers was said to be returning from his official assignment in Government House after a trip to Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area for a government event when the incident occurred.
The gunmen had contacted his wife and demanded N30million ransom to set him free.
