Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has issued a strong critique of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, warning that residents will “deal with” him during the upcoming local government elections in Abuja.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm, Kingibe stated that Wike is disconnected from the needs and aspirations of the people.
“The truth is that the people of the FCT resent Wike,” she said. “They are not happy with his attitude and his failure to meet their needs.”
She framed the forthcoming council elections as a form of referendum on Wike’s tenure as minister:
“The people will show him who owns the FCT during the council polls,” Kingibe added.
This public rebuke highlights growing political tensions between the elected senator and the appointed minister, as local governance issues and control over the FCT continue to generate controversy.
