A young lady has decided to end it all by drinking a substance suspected to be poison following a disagreement with her parents over choice of who to marry.
The lady, whose name was given as Hauwa’u Sani, from Yankara community in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, carried out the act following the insistence by her parents that she must marry a man chosen by them for her.
The lady was said to have refused the choice of her parents, saying she wanted to marry the man of her choice. This did not go down well with the parents who said it was either their choice she must marry or nobody.
A source in the know of the development told Impact Nigeria News Online on Friday that for about two months, the parents threatened the lady almost on a daily basis to accept the man of their choice or get disowned. They also vowed never to accept the man she prefered to have as husband.
The lady was said to have angrily left the house since last month and on Thursday evening, reports reached the community that she had died after drinking poison.
As of the time of this report, it could not be confirmed if the incident had been reported at the police station.
