The Lagos State Government has announced the commencement of repair works on the Ogudu/Ifako Bridge, scheduled to begin on Saturday, June 28, and span 110 days, concluding on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
The long-postponed maintenance project will be carried out in eight phases, focusing on both inbound lanes of the bridge. Phases 1 to 4, covering the inbound Alapere section, will run from June 28 to August 16, while Phases 5 to 8, targeting inbound Oworonshoki, will follow from August 16 to October 5.
To ease traffic disruptions, the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has released a detailed diversion plan. During Phase 1, motorists approaching from Iyana Oworo are advised to use Gbagada, connect through Anthony, and proceed via Ikorodu Road.
A single lane will remain open near the active repair zone to allow limited movement. For Phase 2, vehicles from Eko Bridge should reroute via Funsho Williams Avenue to access Ikorodu Road.
Transportation Commissioner Oluwaseun Osiyemi assured residents of LASTMA’s presence to manage traffic flow. He emphasized that the partial closures are necessary to repair critical expansion joints and ensure long-term structural safety. Motorists are urged to plan ahead, obey diversion signs, and stay informed through official traffic channels.
