The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers, recovered weapons and ammunition, and permanently sealed a hotel in Mushin allegedly used as a criminal hideout.
According to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the arrest took place on Friday, October 3, 2025, around 10:00 a.m. when detectives attached to the Lagos State Task Force were on duty at Empire Junction by Jibowu, inward Ikorodu Road. Officers spotted four young men suspected to be members of an armed robbery gang.
On sighting the police, three of the suspects fled, but one, identified as 21-year-old Toheeb Adeboye, was apprehended. A search of his bag revealed a cache of weapons, including one locally made cut-to-size single-barrel gun, one English Barreter pistol with two live 9mm rounds, and a locally made pistol with ten live cartridges.
During interrogation, Adeboye reportedly confessed that the gang had just completed a robbery operation in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, and were heading to their regular hideout at New Supreme Hotel, Akala, Mushin.
Acting swiftly, operatives raided the hotel, recovering incriminating items such as a laptop, charms, substances suspected to be Indian hemp, hard drugs, and another locally fabricated pistol. One of the fleeing suspects, 33-year-old Ajayi Adeniyi, was also arrested during the operation.
The hotel has since been cordoned off permanently, while both suspects and recovered exhibits were transferred to the Command Headquarters for further investigation. Police say efforts are ongoing to track down the other gang members still at large.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, commended the operatives for their professionalism and urged hoteliers to maintain proper guest records to prevent criminal misuse of their facilities. He assured Lagos residents of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
