LASU gets another female VC, as she becomes third woman to run affairs of the university

Another female don has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU) to succeed the outgoing vice-chancellor who is also a female.

Lagos State governor and Visitor to the university, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, approved the appointment of Professor (Mrs) Badejo Ayodeji Olawumi as the chief executive officer of the university to succeed Professor (Mrs) Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, whose five-year tenure expired last week.

Professor Badejo Ayodeji Olawunmi, who is a Professor of Guidance and Counselling of the institution, was born on August 4, 1962.

She obtained a PhD in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and an M. Ed. (Guidance and Counselling) from the same university.

She is the third woman to be vice-chancellor of the university. The first female VC was Professor Jadesola Akande, a Professor of Law.

Professor Olatunji-Bello is the ninth VC and the second woman to be appointed the vice-chancellor. She was appointed in September 2021 for a five-year tenure.
