The early Saturday morning fire tragedy that occurred at a section of the Alesinloye Market, Ibadan, brought with it lamentations, as some of the traders counted their losses.
More than five shops were completely razed while a few others were affected, just as the owners of the razed shops arrived in the morning to bemoan their losses.
It was gathered that one of the shop owners (names withheld) just got a contract from the military to the tune of N9 million to sew some military ware.
He was said to have procured all the materials needed to sew the items and was planning to start work next Monday. However, on getting to the shop on Saturday morning, he was faced with a razed shop and the entire materials for the job completely burnt.
He was said to have broken down in tears, wondering what he would tell those who gave him the job.
Another tragic incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when a woman who came to sympathise with her friend who was one of the traders that lost her shop fell into the drainage and had to be rushed to the hospital.
The woman, while leaving after the sympathy visit, lost her balance, fell into the drainage, got seriously injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Following the seriousness of the injuries sustained by her, the hospital eventually referred her to the Oluyoro Hospital for more comprehensive treatment.
