A young man who was said to have escaped from prison after he was remanded for killing a female undergraduate in Edo State inside a church has again been arrested for murdering a lady over her motorcycle in Delta State.
The man, who gave his name as Michael Ezenwanne, was arrested by the operatives of the Delta State Police Command a few days after he was said to have carried out the act.
Ezenwanne was reported to have escaped from the Oko Prison during the #ENDSARS protests in 2020 where he was remanded after he and his gang members killed Miss Uwaila Omorzuwa, a 200-level student of the University of Benin, when she was inside a church in Benin City for a vigil.
It was gathered that on October 23 this year, the man invaded a house in Agbor, Delta State, and attempted to rob the occupants. However, when he wanted to take the bike belonging to a 26-year-old lady, Christabel Egedefe, who also lived in the house, the lady refused to release the keys of the bike.
He was said to have attacked her, hit her head on the floor, causing the lady to die in the process. He also went away with the lady’s phone and other valuables.
The long arm of the law caught up with him when he wanted to sell the phone to a man from the North living in the state but the man, who became suspicious, called policemen and he was arrested there.
The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Bright Edafe, announced the arrest in a video where he interrogated the man.
During the interrogation, Michael said when he wanted to collect the keys of the bike, the lady dragged them with him and he used his power to hit her which made her to fall and stop breathing.
He also confirmed that he was arrested at the point where he wanted to sell her phone.
He is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation into his activities.
