The media aide to the political adviser to the Akwa Ibom State Governor has been relieved of his duties for what was described as “disloyalty.”
The media aide, Osborne Ubong Okon, who worked with the Political Adviser, Prince Godwin Utuk Udeh, was sacked via a letter dated June 2 “due to the necessity to always keep the office of the political adviser purified.”
The governor, Pastor Umo Eno, made a number of appointments recently, including that of a political adviser who also appointed a media aide.
Sources said he was sacked after he made a Facebook post that stated that President Bola Tinubu should have resigned over the challenges the country is facing currently, including insecurity.
“In a sane clime, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would’ve respectfully and honourably resigned. I’m of APC but truth be told,” he wrote on Facebook.
The two-paragraph letter announcing his sack reads: “Following actions bordering on disloyalty and considering the necessity to always keep the Office of Political Adviser purified, it has become compelling that you, Mr Osborne Ubong Okon, be and is hereby relieved of your engagement as a media aide to the Political Adviser to His Excellency, the Governor, with immediate effect and from today, 2nd June, 2026.
“Any person having dealings with the above-mentioned former media aide in relation to this office of his formal engagement does so at his or her own peril.”
